What is Church Membership?

Church membership begins when a person has a true living relationship with God through the Jesus of the Bible. This means they are living a life of repentance and faith and are doing all they can to please God by obeying His Word.

Why Church Membership?

All of the teachings of SGCC are based upon what is revealed in the Word of God.  Though local church membership is not overtly stated in Scripture; the concept and importance of is heavily implied (1 Cor. 5:2, 7, 12-13; Heb. 13:17). Throughout the Bible we see that church membership signifies a type of covenant relationship.

Members of SGCC are truly converted Christians who are committed in giving their time, (by faithful attendance), treasures (by faithful giving), and talents (by faithful service).

It is our desire and God-given responsibility as the Elders of SGCC to help you understand and obey what God requires of you in regards to church membership and all other facets of life (Acts 20:26-31; Heb. 13:17). Everything involved with being a member at SGCC is designed to facilitate the establishment and growth of people’s relationships with Christ.

If you agree with the SGCC Concise Statement of Faith, are a baptized believer who is living a life of repentance and faith seeking to please God, and would like to be a member of SGCC please see one of the Elders.
